ILOILO CITY, June 30 (PNA) — The Department of Social Welfare and Development is set to release the second quarter social pension for the 8,704 beneficiaries in the amount of P19,900,500.
DSWD Assistant Director Joel Galicia said that they are about to release to indigent social pensioners their benefits amounting to P500 per person per month or in the tune of P1,500 for the whole second quarter.
He said that for the first quarter the DSWD regional office 6 has already released P6,110,000 for the 4,105 beneficiaries in Western Visayas.
Meanwhile, Judith Marte, DSWD regional office 6 program in-charge, said that within two weeks they will already be releasing for the second quarter the amount of P19,900,500 for the total 8,704 beneficiaries. These beneficiaries are in the province of Aklan, 965; Antique, 1,239; Capiz, 917; Guimaras, 395; Iloilo, 3,612; and, Negros Occidental, 1,579.
The increased number of beneficiaries is because of their ongoing enumeration of seniors in Western Visayas so others would also be able to receive pension from the government to help them afford to buy food and other basic necessities. (PNA)
