Formerly known as Trenas Boulevard, the Iloilo River Esplanade has become one of the many places that the people of Iloilo City are proud of. It has become one of the city’s newest recreation destinations. Located along the Iloilo River, it certainly is a great place for a stroll, jogging, biking, or just hanging out with friends and family.
The river esplanade spans from Diversion Road up to Carpenter’s Bridge, which connects the districts of Molo and Mandurriao. With recreational and fun areas, a breath-taking view of the Iloilo River and the sunset, the Esplanade is an excellent place for people, especially children to play, relax and enjoy each other’s company.
City Mayor Jed Mabilog spearheaded the construction of the Esplanade as part of the city’s beautification projects. It was opened to the public on August 18, 2012. Since that time, there have already been major improvements to the area including viewing decks, a playground for children, coffee shops and more establishments are being put up in order to add more attractions to the now famous Iloilo River Esplanade.
An eco-park, fitness and recreational venue, the Esplanade serves as an attraction for Ilonggos and tourists. It has become a source of pride for the fun-loving and gleeful people of Iloilo City.
