ILOILO CITY, April 9 (PNA)- The Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) has mounted anti-vandalism teams tasked to run after vandals in six city districts and focus will be on graffiti which appears to be on the upsurge as evidenced by ugly and nonsensical markings scribbled on government and privately-owned structures.
ICPO Director Ruperto Floro Jr. said the teams have begun to fan out to areas frequented by vandals and so far this week, four, including three minors, have fallen into police hands in Jaro district.
For his part, City Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog said he is saddened by the behavior of the young lawbreakers, lamenting that repainting the “graffitied walls” is clearly a waste of taxpayers’ money.
With the creation of the anti-vandals teams, however, the city chief executive appeared hopeful that the practice which has persisted for years will soon become a thing of the past. (PNA)
