ILOILO CITY, April 8 (PNA) –- Iloilo Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC) Executive Officer Jerry Bionat said he expects no strong storm surge will be caused by tropical depression “Domeng” once it sweeps through the province.
”This will not be like typhoon Yolanda,” Bionat said. He said that the forecast strength of the typhoon is not like that of Yolanda. “Domeng” is expected to make a landfall in Mindanao by Wednesday and pass through Visayas including Iloilo province.
Bionat nevertheless urged people particularly in the northern towns of Iloilo province to be ready for any eventuality. He said that they have to be ready for evacuation and with their basic needs, but not to panic for it could cause more harm.
Tropical depression Domeng is forecast to pass through Iloilo’s fifth district in the north which are in the towns of Ajuy, Barotac Viejo, Balasan, Batad, Carles, Concepcion, Estancia, and Lemery. These towns were also the ones severely affected by typhoon Yolanda on November 8 of last year. (PNA)
