ILOILO CITY, April 14 (PNA) — The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board in Western Visayas (LTFRB R6) is so hell-bent on securing lives andlimbs during the Holy Week that public utility transport vehicles failing to adhere to its standards will be prevented from leaving terminals.
LTFRB Region 6 Director Romulo Bernardes confirmed that the composite team of the LTFRB, LTO, and the Highway Patrol Group will be on hand to apply the rules of their “Anti-Kalbo Gulong” operation for the sake of the passengers’ safety.
Bernardes said worn-out tires are definitely a no-no on the road, and unless they are replaced withbrand new tires, there is no way they can escape the composite team’s dragnet.
If the driver insists, the vehicle will be impounded and charged with penalty fees.
Travel permits will also be subject to scrutiny and if found expired, sanctions are going to be imposed.
“We’ll crack the whip”, he said. (PNA)
