ILOILO CITY, April 10 (PNA) — The Regional Development Council in Region 6 (RDC-VI) has endorsed the 54MW-San Lorenzo Wind Power Project in Guimaras province as a Priority Development Project of Western Visayas during its recent meeting at the Smallville 21 Hotel, this city.
The RDC-VI, presided by NEDA Regional Director Ro-Ann A. Bacal, passed a resolution manifesting its strong commitment to promote Western Visayas as the country’s front-runner in the use of renewable energy mix by year 2020.
The project is also consistent with the Regional Development Plan 2014-2016 discussed in the chapter on Bio-fuels and Renewable Energy.
Other resolutions passed by the RDC during their meeting include: Enjoining Concerned Local Government Units and Regional Line Agencies to Support the Implementation of the “Family Health Improved” Project of DOH; Requesting DILG to Include the Gender and Development (GAD) Plan as One of the Topics during the Orientation of Newly Elected Officials of Provinces, Cities, Municipalities and Barangays; and Requesting the DILG to Include the Updated Comprehensive Land Use Plan of Cities and Municipalities and the Provincial Development and Physical Framework Plan as one of the Indicators in the Seal of Good Local Governance Award for Local Government Units.
The RDC, on the same day, also held Awarding Ceremonies for the 4th Best Public Sector Projects Awards (BPSPA).
Both the RDC First Quarter Meeting and the awarding ceremonies were well attended by local government officials, regional directors of the different national line agencies, and private sector representatives. (PNA)
