ILOILO, March 26 (PNA) -– A blessing is how the principal of Lincud Elementary School (LES) in Barangay Lincud, Dingle described the P2.64-million worth three-classroom building which was donated to them by the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP).

Principal Jocelyn A. Palmaria expressed gratitude to the said company as the completed facility was turned over to them officially on Tuesday.

Palmaria said the school building is a big help to them especially that their school really needs more classrooms.

With the new building, she said, they will convert other classrooms into a learning resource center, library or clinic and guidance office which they don’t have because of lack of facility.

She said classes for Grade 1 up to Grade 3 will be transferred to the new school building and the classrooms they will vacate will be converted into the above-mentioned purposes.

LES is a barangay school with 153 pupils from kinder 1 to grade 6.

The Parents-Teachers Association (PTA) and the barangay officials of the said barangay were also thankful for the benevolence of the said company.

Engr. Reagahn C. Alcantara, NGCP’s Field Officer-Corporate Affairs for Panay and Negros Occidental, said the project is part of the company’s corporate social responsibility as they also want to give back to the community that is hosting their facilities.

He said the project is their gift to the said community school and requested them to take care of it.

Alcantara led the ribbon-cutting and inauguration of the three-classroom school building March 25.

Meanwhile, Grade 3-pupil Selz Hope Hifarva and Grade 2-pupil Keiane Grace Casera said they are very thankful to NGCP for giving them the three-classroom school building which could be used also by the next generations.

They added that they are excited to hold classes in their new and beautiful classrooms. (PNA)
